Meghan Markle was branded the “ultimate bridezilla” in a documentary, as tales had been reported that the staff had been left “hugely traumatised” by the expertise of working for the Sussexes. In the documentary aired today on Channel 5, Harry & Meghan: The Wedding That Split Two Families, the programme mentioned the royal disaster, including the times before the marriage.

Charlotte Griffiths, editor at large of the Mail on Sunday, said Meghan was reportedly troublesome to work with. She claimed the Fifth-century St George’s Chapel had a “musty, stale odour”, and needed staff to spray fragrance to scent the chapel before visitors arrived.

“People will argue no smoke without fire, and more and more, these stories appear,” Griffiths said. “It was one of those things where staff were getting disgruntled, and it got bigger and bigger.”

“We now know they call themselves ‘The Sussex Survivors’. They think they’ve got PTSD, they are hugely traumatised by this experience of working for Harry and Meghan,” she added. Meghan’s demand, as Daily Telegraph’s deputy royal editor, Victoria Ward, said: “The behaviour isn’t just reserved for her staff.

“I believe she was turning into fairly dictatorial and demanding. She was busy, busy, busy and anticipated everybody else to fall into line.”

Back in 2018, Meghan and Harry shared royal households with Prince William and Princess Kate, who are recognized to be “close with their staff”. Griffiths said: “Meghan comes on the scene and begins treating everybody like a Hollywood assistant. And that infected the rift between William and Kate on the one hand and Meghan and Harry on the other.

Meghan’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, a companion at the law firm Schillings, dismissed claims of bullying made against Meghan by people who have labored with her at Kensington Palace, including the depiction of the Duchess as a bully “doesn’t match my experience of her at all”.

She added: “I think the first thing is to be really clear about what bullying is because the term gets used very, very casually. My daughter called me a bully last week when I asked her to brush her teeth – she’s seven years old.

“So the time period is used very freely, and it is a very, very damaging time period as we all know, notably I believe for a profession lady.”
