Mets decide Kodai Sengas next step after worrying…
Kodai Senga volunteered to Mets officers on Friday that he would really like an alternative to face hitters next week, giving crew brass one last piece of data before a potential wild-card sequence roster materializes.
The right-hander’s request has been granted.
And even following his shaky outing for Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, the Mets haven’t ruled out the chance of a Senga return this season.
“There is a certain level of trust with him that he knows himself better than we know him,” pitching coach Jeremy Hefner said, when requested if Senga might still show enough to secure a postseason roster spot. “In the best way, he has a keen awareness of where his body is at and if he says he’s good, then there’s some level of trust from the organization to believe that.”
