Mike Johnson defends Pentagons follow-up boat | Political News


House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the Pentagon’s controversial second strike against a suspected drug smuggling boat in the Caribbean Sea in September. 

After a labeled briefing with army officers, Johson called the strikes, which killed 11 people on Sept. 2, “overly politicized.”

The speaker added that the choice to kill survivors clinging to the wrecked boat after the initial blast was “entirely appropriate.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been embroiled with allegations of battle crimes following a bombshell story by The Washington Post.

The Post cited sources claiming Hegseth had ordered the army to “kill everybody” on board the boat off the coast of Venezuela, allegedly main to Adm. Frank Bradley to order the observe up assault against survivors incapable of defending themselves.

The White House later confirmed that Bradley accepted the second strike, though it claimed his order was lawful.

Hegseth ultimatum
