More Reflecting Pool Arrests, and What a Local

There’s more news on what’s been occurring at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. We reported how one man had been arrested. That man was a former Olympian who was charged with destruction of property. He denied the alleged expenses and said he had only tried to contact a piece of the paint, but he claimed he hadn’t broken something. 

That wasn’t all.

At least 5 people have been arrested at the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall in Washington, DC amid federal allegations of vandalism at the location, according to law enforcement.

Members of a DC job power, a group of federal and local law enforcement officers, made 5 arrests for destruction of authorities property at the Reflecting Pool between June 17 and June 21, Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the United States Marshals Service, told USA TODAY.

The Metropolitan Police Department said they’d not been concerned in the arrests.

The local news WUSA9 reported on other incidents that their reporters noticed last week. 

This week, large chunks and strips of paint started showing on the floor of the shallow water on the National Mall.

Reporters from WUSA9 this week witnessed quite a few passers-by prying strips of paint or surfacing from the pool, some utilizing kitchen tongs.

So, for any leftists pushing tales about there not being any vandalism, that would appear to settle the query. 

On top of that, the “pro-algae” brigade that my colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reported on is still out, encouraging the algae. You can see in a video on X, one of the people yelling at National Guard members for standing guard over the Reflecting Pool. They had been doing their best to ignore her ranting. Then there was another one, truly talking to the algae, encouraging it, and cheering it on in this video on X. “Everybody is proud of you!” the activist said to the algae. “You are single-handedly doing more to fight fascism than any American has! Yeah, algae!” 

These “activists” do not appear to get the irony. They’re yelling about Americans defending a national monument. But they’re so obsessed with being against President Donald Trump that they’re those doing this silly stuff. Which one seems worse to most Americans? Hint: it is not the National Guard. The activists do not appear to get that this is our Pool – we should always all need it to be in good condition. 

President Trump’s Marine One appeared to go proper by the Reflecting Pool as he flew back to Joint Base Andrews on Sunday, as this video on X reveals. He later appeared to verify he’d gone over, posting on Truth Social that he had “just inspected it” and work would start to restore it.

Francois Rivard, vice president of Rhino Linings, the company concerned in some of the work on the pool, said the restore wouldn’t be finished by July 4. But he said the pool stays leak-proof, that the stripping “appears to be the outer blue layer that’s purely for aesthetics.” 

He said they might be wanting at whether or not it was “manual intervention that made those few places peel” or “the chemical composition in the water.” But either manner, he said it wasn’t “problematic” as the work they did to make the Pool leak-proof was advantageous.

As we reported, the Pool had been leaking up to 45,000 gallons a day. That was the main purpose  President Trump was addressing the issue.
