For most younger people, the ever-rising value of housing, groceries, health care, childcare, and more is untenable. According to a new ballot carried out by Rasmussen Reports and The Heartland Institute, almost three out of 4 possible voters under age 39-years-old suppose the price of housing is at a “crisis level,” and only 22 % suppose their financial future will probably be better than their mother and father.

Those are startling statistics that show how deep the sense of financial hopelessness is among hundreds of thousands of younger Americans. 

In some locations, like New York City and Seattle, younger voters not too long ago elected socialist mayors to handle the cost-of-living disaster that is especially acute in those city enclaves. Unfortunately, as historical past has shown time and time again, socialist insurance policies will make the state of affairs worse, not better.

No matter how you slice it, crimson states are usually more inexpensive than blue states strictly on a cost-of-living foundation. But that is only half of the story.

In blue states like California, New York, New Jersey, and many more, residents pay high income tax charges.

In California, the top marginal income tax fee is 13.3 %. In New York, it’s 10.9 %. In New Jersey, it’s 10.75 %.

On the other hand, crimson states like Florida, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, and Wyoming have no state income taxes. That is a big boon to residents of those states, who don’t pay a single penny in state income taxes.

If you earn $100,000 in California, your after-tax income is: $73,409. In New York, it’s $73,784. In Oregon, it’s only $70,540. 

In income-tax-free states like Florida, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, or Wyoming, your after-tax income is almost $5,000 increased ($78,736).
