During the Sixties, few musical acts may match The Beatles’ chart supremacy. The legendary quartet has secured its place among music historical past’s biggest performers.

However, the information reveal that even The Beatles weren’t completely stationed at Number One. The Searchers, another British group, was also accumulating hit singles during that period.

With chart-busters like Sweets for My Sweet and Sugar and Spice, The Searchers bought tens of millions of information in their heyday, even managing to knock The Beatles from the summit. Sadly, The Searchers never achieved the same astronomical success, and misfortune befell the band when one founding member died in destitution.

Paul Francis, who drummed for one of Tony Jackson’s later bands, The Vibrations, honored the late musician by saying: “You’ve got to put Tony up with the likes of Lennon and all those, because he was a major influence on all the bands starting out. And he’s left a fantastic legacy of records.”

Tony was laid to relaxation in 2003 at an intimate chapel in Wilford Hill Cemetery, Nottingham, where admirers and family members assembled to say their last goodbyes.
