Netflix fans rush to binge watch captivating | TV Shows

Netflix viewers have been busy binge watching a period drama that’s been described as “astonishing” and “captivating.”

Harlots stars Lesley Manville, Liv Tyler and Samantha Morton and offers viewers a feminist take on 18th century sex work. The Netflix show is set in brothels in Georgian England in the 1760s, with two madams going to war.

When Margaret Wells’ (Morton) brothel is attacked by rival madam Lydia Quigley (Manville), the pair fight for customers. Margaret is determined to win and protect her business, even if it means putting her family at risk.

With Harlots now streaming on Netflix, it has shot up the streaming giant’s Top 10 charts. And it’s not just Netflix that’s seen the program achieve a high rating.

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, Harlots has a 97% score, with fans admitting to binge watching the series.

There are only three seasons of Harlots, with Manville admitting she would be on board with doing a fourth season.

“I’d always be interested – obviously I’d be interested,” she admitted during a press event. “I had nothing but a pleasurable time doing all three series, and it was one of those blissful jobs.”

She added, “I’d definitely [give] that a lot of consideration but it’s certainly not something that’s been talked about.”
