Netflix fans stay up to binge incredible drama with | UK News

Netflix fans have been staying up until the morning to end the second half of The Sandman season 2, which dropped on the platform yesterday. Volume 2 of the show’s ultimate season has left fans “in tears”, with some even claiming they “won’t be able to think straight for a long time”.

Based on the comedian collection by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman follows Morpheus, the Master of Dreams, as he tries to restore glory back to his kingdom. The synopsis for the Netflix show reads: “When the Sandman, aka Dream, the cosmic being who controls all dreams, is captured and held prisoner for more than a century, he must journey across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence has caused.”

Tom Sturridge has been praised for his efficiency as the titular character, while the show’s star-studded solid also contains Game of Thrones stars Gwendoline Christie and Charles Dance, as properly as Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman. Taking to X, the social media platform previously identified as Twitter, fans shared their ideas on the second half of The Sandman season 2

“Whoa! Whoa! #TheSandmanSeason2 was incredible, and I am so excited for the bonus episode coming out July 31,” one wrote.

A second individual shared: “So I finished watching season 2. It was a long journey that I will never forget. It’s an amazing show, and amazing people working on it. I will never be the same after this, and I cried a lot of tears. I don’t think I will be able to think straight for a long time.”

Another posted: “Finished all V2 episodes in one sitting… It’s virtually 7am. It was so good. Tom Sturridge did an superb job as Dream. The complete solid and crew are REALLY some of the best, I can not keep in mind the final time a show left such an influence on me.”

One more fan tearfully penned: “The last few episodes of Sandman were incredibly emotional. Even though I knew how the story would end, I still couldn’t hold back my tears. A huge thank you to Tom Sturridge for being the best Morpheus imaginable.”

While the first series of The Sandman was praised by critics when it first launched on Netflix in 2022, it has also faced a lot of backlash following reports that creator Gaiman has been accused of inappropriate misconduct by multiple women. He denies these allegations.

Some fans believed Netflix had made the decision to end The Sandman after just two seasons due to the controversy, but showrunner Allan Heinberg has confirmed a two-season run had already been decided before filming the second installment began.

“The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” he wrote on X.

“We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”

The Sandman is offered to stream now, solely on Netflix.
