New map shows Donald Trumps plan to end Gaza war | Political News
The White House has launched Donald Trump’s plan to end the practically two-year previous war in Gaza after the US president met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.
The “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” is a 20 level proposal. It states that the US will set up a dialogue between Israel and Palestine and that within 72 hours of Israel accepting the settlement, all Israeli hostages might be launched.
The plan states that if both sides agree, “the war will immediately end.”
In asserting the proposal on Monday, President Trump thanked Netanyahu for “agreeing to the plan.”
“If we work together, we can bring an end to the death and destruction that we’ve seen for so many years, decades, even centuries, and begin a new chapter of security, peace and prosperity for the entire region,” Trump said.
Trump added that Hamas would still have to agree to the deal.
Netanyahu said he supports Trump’s plan, describing it a “critical step” toward ending the war and achieving peace.
Trump said he discussed his ceasefire plan with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Some of the proposal’s points include that Gaza “might be a deradicalized terror-free zone that doesn’t pose a risk to its neighbors.”
It also requires the distribution of aid into Gaza, with the territory to be redeveloped. No Palestinians will be forcefully relocated, according to the plan. The White House said Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza.
The Republican said he would also chair a “Board of Peace” to supervise the redevelopment of Gaza once the war there ends. According to The White House, the board would include heads of state and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Hamas is believed to be holding 48 hostages, 20 of whom are believed by Israel to be alive. It has demanded Israel agree to end the war and withdraw from Gaza as half of any ceasefire.
Israel’s sweeping offensive has killed more than 66,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Several Arab states and UN consultants have accused Israel of committing genocide.
Israel’s blockade and ongoing offensive has pushed Gaza City into famine, according to the world’s top authority on starvation crises. More than 300,000 people have fled the town in latest weeks as Israel has ordered the population to transfer south, but an estimated 700,000 stay.
Last week, Israel’s Western allies including Britain, France, Canada and Australia acknowledged Palestinian statehood.
