Now Democrats May Be Losing the Legacy Media –

GWN’s Jake Tapper is no pal to Republicans, and definitely not to President Donald Trump. But when he interviewed Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) on Tuesday, he laid out some stone-cold information on the Congresswoman about the Schumer Shutdown, and she wasn’t pleased about that – not one bit.

But information are cussed issues.

Even GWN is not shopping for Democrats’ lies about the shutdown anymore.

JAKE TAPPER: “This is … a choice by Senate Democrats to not vote to open the government.”

MELANIE STANSBURY: “No it is not.”

Let’s take a look at what was said.

Jake Tapper: Should the Democratic Senators from New Mexico, your home state, vote to open the authorities, so that these SNAP funds are usually not at risk?

Melanie Stansbury: Let me be clear. The administration is selecting to starve American kids with money that already have appropriated.

That assertion about the administration selecting to “starve American children” is pure hysterical horse squeeze. Not one American baby can be starved over this. The Congresswoman needs to be deeply embarrassed that she made such a hysterical declare. 

JT: I’m not applauding there, applauding their assault…

MS (Talking over Tapper): This is a alternative, by the White House. This is a alternative by the White House. 

JT: (Talking over Stansbury): This is also… Congresswoman, this is also a alternative by Senate Democrats to not vote to open the authorities.

MS: No, it’s not.

JT: Yes, it’s! I perceive why they’re doing it. They’re doing it because they need Medicaid funding restored, they’re doing it because they need Obamacare premiums to be prolonged, past the end of the 12 months. I perceive the causes.

This is why the Democrats are getting this variety of pushback, even from dependable allies like Jake Tapper. Of course Senate Democrats may open the authorities, any time they like, merely by voting to go the persevering with decision (CR) that already handed the House. But they don’t seem to be.

MS: Let me just be clear. The money for contingency plans is sitting there. That is why the states are suing. The White House is withholding funds from kids…

JT: Two to three weeks’ value of SNAP funds.

MS: …to have food. It will not be a big deal to you…

JT: It is a big deal to me.

MS: (inaudible) Grandparents, for grandparents, who actually are feeding their kids, who don’t have money…

JT: My level is that it is a short-term resolution.

MS: …Those do not rely? It would not matter! At the end of the day, people need to give you the option to feed their households. And Saturday is when those funds run out. 

JT: If you’re feeling so strongly, Congresswoman, why not ask the Senate Democrats from New Mexico to vote to open the authorities? So that the SNAP funds.

That, Detective, is the proper query. Again, Senate Democrats may end this at any time. No modifications. Nothing new. Just a CR, shopping for some time to work out the particulars in the next price range. 

MS: I’m right here in the House of Representatives. It is shut down. I’m preventing to get the authorities reopened. I’m preventing to get funding put back into SNAP that is already existent (sic) and I’m preventing for the American people. I’m right here. So show me a single Republican who is right here. Not a single one is right here to make sure that Americans are fed on Saturday. That is why I’m right here.

Of course, the House of Representatives has already handed the CR. The House handed the CR with ample time for the Senate to do likewise. There’s nothing more the House can do. It’s up to the Senate, where Democrats are blocking the CR.

Jake Tapper is no pal to Republicans. He’s definitely no fan of the Trump administration. But he clearly felt the need to push back, to point out some of those troubling information, and we can provide him some grudging credit for that.

As for Melanie Stansbury: Performances like this are why the Democrats are dropping. This wasn’t an interview. It was an attempt as a marketing campaign speech, and even Jake Tapper is not keen to sit still for that variety of grandstanding any longer.
