BBC viewers had been left “upset” and “heartbroken” after watching a new documentary focusing on the late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home aired on BBC One on Thursday, 2 October, with the documentary chronicling the closing chapter of his life over three years.

The hour-long programme provided followers an intimate look into Ozzy’s health struggles, with his spouse Sharon also candidly discussing the challenges he was going through.

Viewers at home had been moved to see Ozzy visibly struggling, with many expressing their sorrow on Twitter (X).

“Long Live Ozzy!! Heartbreaking watching him in this documentary, when he has recently passed He’s one of the great ones, gone too soon My heart goes out to Sharon #ComingHome #OzzyOsbourne,” one fan posted on X.

“This Ozzy Osbourne documentary is upsetting,” another viewer said, while one more remarked: “I never realised Ozzy Osbourne was suffering that much.”

A fourth commented: “The Osbournes were my childhood i loved watching their show with my dad years ago.

“This documentary is heartbreaking It still doesnt appear real that Ozzy’s gone What a legend he’s gone but never forgotten,” and a fifth simply stated: “Ozzy is breaking my coronary heart a bit.”

Ozzy, who disclosed in 2020 that he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, sadly died at the age of 76 earlier this year. His death came three weeks after Black Sabbath performed their final farewell gig in Ozzy’s hometown Birmingham, reports the Mirror.

In the BBC documentary, Ozzy described the gig as a “great manner to exit” whilst confirming he was retiring with a “clear conscience”.

Nevertheless, he revealed: “The only factor that was terribly irritating for me, I had to sit there instead of working across the stage. I needed to get up and sing so a lot. It was very humbling to sit in that chair for 9 songs.”

He continued by stating he was stepping back from “public life” following the performance, as he and Sharon started planning their fresh chapter in England after moving from Los Angeles.

At the programme’s conclusion, Ozzy reflected: “I’ve had a lot of enjoyable. I’ve had a lot of blood, sweat and tears, you realize. It’s been a great life. If I may live my life again, I would not change a rattling factor.”
