Patty Murray Rails Against Costco Refusing to Sell | Political News
Democrat Senator Patty Murray (WA) is not the first and will not be the last member of her occasion to hurl false accusation at Republicans over the apply of abortion, which stays one of the far-left Democrat Party’s sacred articles of religion.
On Friday, Murray railed against the left’s latest failure to grow access to what many in their ranks refer to as “women’s healthcare” but often outcomes in rising charges of abortion among some of our most susceptible fellow Americans.
We need to back up to where this all began, though, when major U.S. big-box retailer Costco announced on Thursday it is not going to be promoting the abortion drug mifepristone at its shops. This got here after some pro-life activists and conservative organizations reached out to the company to not put the drug on its pharmacy cabinets. Costco runs over 500 pharmacies inside its places across the nation:
“Our position at this time not to sell mifepristone, which has not changed, is based on the lack of demand from our members and other patients who we understand generally have the drug dispensed by their medical providers,” Costco said in a assertion, according to GWN.
The transfer follows ongoing stress from spiritual activist teams, such as Inspire Investing and Alliance Defending Freedom, which have urged Costco not to offer the drug. The Inspire Investing web site encourages the retail giant to “make the right choice to protect women and unborn children.”
Alliance Defending Freedom celebrated the “win” against progressive pro-abortion activists that the announcement alerts:
Huge win: @Costco received’t cave to activist stress to flip shops into abortion capsule dispensaries.
No business case. No shareholder upside. Just ideology—and it failed.

The legal advocacy group’s Senior Vice President, Jeremy Tedesco, gave “credit to @Inspireadvisor @JerryLeeBowyer @AMACforAmerica @SFOF_States & other fiduciary trustees who fought back,” while giving major “kudos” to not only Costco but the big three U.S. grocery giants–Walmart, Kroger, and Albertsons–” for protecting shareholder value over activist demands.”
Cue the suits of anger by Sen. Murray over the transfer. The Washington lawmaker said in a assertion, launched on Friday that the company only did so at the behest of those evil right-wingers who need to stop girls from getting “healthcare.”
That isn’t a line of “business” that most firms would need to be concerned in Ms. Senator.

“I am deeply alarmed by news reports that Costco is refusing to sell safe, effective, and legal medication for no other reason than to appease the politics of anti-abortion fanatics,” she said. “I refuse to stand by and allow far-right extremists to bully major corporations and dictate what medicine women can or cannot get access to.”
The senator went on, “Where it is legal, retailers and major pharmacies must absolutely make medication abortion available to the women who need it.”
I have bad news for Murray. She and her liberal pals seem to have, once again, missed the memo. As my colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell wrote in the story, linked above, giving some positive details from the exit polling on the 2024 election:
Forty-three percent of women 18-29 voted for President-elect Trump. Vice President and selected Democrat nominee Kamala Harris was banking on young women’s upset over Dobbs and the falsehood of “reproductive rights” being threatened. However, the post-election analysis shows that women in general weren’t falling for that canard.
That’s not the only major way the Democrats are wrong here. Notice the reason Costco gave for choosing not to stock the medical abortion drug. They simply aren’t getting enough orders for it, as their statement showed, it was “based on the shortage of demand from our members and other sufferers who we perceive typically have the drug distributed by their medical suppliers.”
And we’re going to keep seeing righteous attorneys normal in purple states bringing lawsuit to shield girls’s health (and infants’ lives), as I wrote on in a Texas case.

Does Murray have a level with her diatribe? Yes, pro-life supporters requested Costco to chorus from making the drug accessible. But so what? There’s also this unavoidable fact the Democrats cannot conceal from. Aren’t they always going on and on about medical choices being made between girls and their medical doctors? This is what’s taking place, along with the forces of the free market at work.
