Paul McCartney added a Beatles second to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding ceremony celebration, performing for friends at the couple’s reception at Madison Square Garden.

The 84-year-old music legend carried out the Beatles‘ chart-topping traditional I Want to Hold Your Hand during the Friday, July 3, reception inside the enduring New York City venue, according to PEOPLE. The couple tied the knot in entrance of a thousand of their pals and household, who had been serenaded by music icons.

Stevie Nicks, a longtime good friend and mentor to Swift, also carried out during the night. The news follows Donna Kelce calling Travis and Taylor Swift’s wedding ceremony ‘magical.’

“After the ceremony, Taylor’s mom, Andrea, invited everyone into the reception room where the stage was set up,” a source told PEOPLE.

The pop star, 36, and the British musician have publicly praised each other in the past. She and McCartney appeared together on a Rolling Stone cowl in 2020, discussing songwriting, fame, and their careers across different generations of pop music.

Swift more lately confirmed assist for McCartney’s new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, resharing one of his Instagram posts on June 2. In her post, she called him an “eternally exceptional artist” and said she was “never not inspired” by him.

McCartney has also spoken warmly about Swift and her success. During an interview with BBC Sounds, he was requested whether or not he had advice for Swift as she continues navigating one of the most seen careers in music.

“You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame,” McCartney said. “The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had, but I don’t think she needs any advice to tell you the truth,” he added with a snigger.

McCartney said he would “definitely” offer steerage if Swift ever requested for it, though he made clear he believes she has managed her profession properly.

“I’m just like the older brother to that era, or more just like the grandad, really,” he said.

The former Beatle said he has met Swift and other younger artists, including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, through parties hosted by his wife, Nancy Shevell, and his daughter, designer Stella McCartney.

“They’re actually cool people, they’re excellent,” he told BBC Sounds.

Taylor and Travis announced their engagement in August 2025 after two years of dating. After much speculation about their nuptials, the couple tied the knot on July 3, 2026, at Madison Square Garden.

Their elaborate fairytale wedding was attended by several celebrity guests, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Ed Sheeran, and many more.
