LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson has had to eat his phrases after making a daring prediction about PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler’s probabilities of victory.  Before Scheffler clinched the title at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Sunday, Mickelson wagered that the world No. 1 would not snag a win before the Ryder Cup in 2025.

“Here’s a hot take. Does Scottie win in 2025 before the Ryder Cup? I really feel like my recreation is trending in a good direction and I’m excited to begin the remaining of the season.”

Scheffler’s commanding presence on the course garnered accolades from his peers. “What he is doing is inspiring, what he is been doing is inspiring,” Jordan Spieth remarked.

“I knew I had to get out and make some birdies. Did a good job on the front nine and was able to play some consistent golf here.”
