Pride and Prejudice fans slam ‘pointless’ casting | TV Shows

Pride and Prejudice fans have been left ‘aggravated’ after current casting news for the upcoming Netflix collection. 

The beloved Jane Austen novel, which has been tailored into a 1995 miniseries starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, and the adored 2009 movie that includes Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, is being given yet another screen revival.

The streaming giant Netflix confirmed earlier this month that a model new six-part restricted collection is in manufacturing, written by Everything I Know About Love writer Dolly Alderton and directed by Heartstopper and Doctor Who’s Euros Lyn.

The casting has already obtained blended reactions from Jane Austen fans.

Emma Corrin has been solid as Elizabeth Bennet, with Jack Lowden taking on the position of Mr Darcy. Olivia Colman will painting the overbearing Mrs Bennet, while Rufus Sewell steps in as the weary and sarcastic Mr Bennet.

The Bennet daughters might be performed by Freya Mavor as Jane, Rhea Norwood as Lydia, with newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery taking part in Mary and Kitty, respectively.

Daryl McCormack has been solid as the charming Mr Bingley, while Louis Partridge performs the scandalous Mr Wickham. Siena Kelly will seem as Caroline Bingley, and Jamie Demetriou has been solid as the ridiculous Mr Collins.

The wider solid consists of Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Sebastian Armesto and Anjana Vasan as the Gardiners, and Rosie Cavaliero as Lady Lucas. Supporting roles will also be crammed by Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, James Northcote, Eloise Webb, and Isabella Sermon, among others.

But the largest stir among Austen fans has come with the announcement that comic and author Liz Kingsman will play Anne de Bourgh – a character who barely options in the unique textual content.

One fan took to Reddit to categorical their frustration, writing, “Utterly pointless.”

Another echoed the sentiment, saying, “Really the only important thing she does in the actual book is curtsey or shake hands aka movement which you can do with multiple tthings. As others have said she has no dialogue.”

Meanwhile, others had been left less than happy by another adaptation of the favored traditional. One particular person wrote, “I’d be feeling more enthusiasm for this Netflix remake if they were remaking Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as a series than doing their take on the original novel.”
