Fiona Bruce cut across her to say: “Hang on, there are people in this audience who support Reform. There are people in this audience who support Reform. So that is not a unanimous view.”

Lucas acknowledged: “I’m sure there are people who support Reform, but that’s quite different from the people who are trying to leave Reform, I would suggest.”

The interplay left GMB’s Kaur livid, as she took to X to tweet: “Caroline Lucas: ‘Do you trust this man, I would like to ask you? Because I have a vision of a bus with £350m.’ Everyone laughs.

“Fiona Bruce interrupts unnecessarily with ‘but there are people in this audience who support Reform’. And?”

Furious commenters agreed, slamming “biased” Bruce as one said: “Bruce appears to be one of them, judging by her performance on this programme!”

Another posted: “Yes, a classic Bruce pro-Reform whataboutery.”

As a third said: “Sorry but has biased overpaid Bruce ever used that line for the Labour voters in the audience? No she hasn’t even when they were in opposition.”
