Reese Witherspoon set the document straight.
The “Legally Blonde” actress, 48, addressed the web’s principle that the Hollywood star who she had a falling out with was Kate Winslet.
“Hey guys .. just spoke to my very dear friend for years, Kate W,” Witherspoon wrote on her Instagram Stories on Saturday.

“We laughed about this stupidity. Please do not believe the internet,” she mentioned. “We are good friends and have never had any falling out.”
On her subsequent slide, Witherspoon wrote, “This is completely UNTRUE …so silly!”

Last week, Witherspoon revealed in an interview with People that one other A-list actress ended their friendship after she “roasted” the unidentified lady whereas presenting her with an award, together with saying, “Remember the time we got laser hair removal?”
“It literally haunts me,” she advised the outlet in an interview with Will Ferrell. “So this friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award. But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her.”

Witherspoon added that the occasion was “British,” “elegant” and “classy” and that she bought the tone utterly flawed whereas cracking jokes onstage.
“I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?’ ” she recalled. “I’m still embarrassed about it.”

“We’re not friends anymore,” Witherspoon shared. “I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore,” she continued with a chuckle. “I think she doesn’t like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn’t talk to me anymore. Oh, well.”
Internet sleuths did some digging and claimed Winslet, 49, was the celeb in query.
They pointed out that Witherspoon offered the “Titanic” star with the artist of the 12 months award during the 2007 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards.

“The Morning Show” actress kicked off her speech by telling the viewers, “I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes and have savoir faire and gravitas.”
“Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my doorbell and said, ‘Darling, Sam [Mendes] is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date? And oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to drink, do you have any wine?’”

Witherspoon added that different tales she needed to share about Winslet had been “too bawdy or tawdy or drunken to tell,” together with the time they “contemplated laser hair removal.”
Nine years later, Witherspoon and Winslet offered an award on the 2016 Oscars collectively with none indicators of pressure.
Winslet’s rep has not responded to The Post’s requests for remark.
