Visitors to Washington, D. C.’s Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool have voiced their outrage over alleged vandalism and the sudden look of algae, just days after the pool underwent a $14 million restoration.
Although footage launched by GWN confirmed National Parks division personnel erecting limitations around the enduring national monument, guests to the nation’s capital have been still in a position to view the almost pristine waters as of Wednesday.
Speaking with Mirror U.S., tourists who had traveled from as distant as California shared their reactions to the turbulent reopening.
California resident Brandy Maleke and her household weighed in on the controversial reopening. “I don’t know all the details, but I think that’s terrible if that’s going on,” she remarked, referring to allegations that people had intentionally launched algae into the pool.
“And it’s very beautiful and very significant to our country, and we need to keep it nice.”

Balucki’s husband, Kyle, echoed his spouse’s sentiments that no person must be interfering with the pool. “Well, I can tell you I’m a history teacher. So I’ve seen some of the stuff that’s been coming out where they say that it could be X, it could be Y,” he acknowledged.
“There’s always conspiracy theorists throughout history,” Kyle continued. “I think, to be honest, anything that is a historical we should not be messing with it.”
Kyle continued: “So stuff like this is put for us to remember the people that came before us, and if people are purposely ruining property that belongs to the people, that’s not right.”
He went on to say: “It should be where anybody could come from other countries and look and see what we’ve built here in America and appreciate it and go, ‘Oh, we want that as well.'”

“So if people are purposely doing this, it’s wrong, and they should be prosecuted for this. It’s our property,” he concluded. Others visiting the location shared comparable sentiments.
“It’s sad because this is the people’s pool and we should all be proud to have it fixed, Gina Cook, 62, said.
“I do not care who sits in the White House because the White House is ours, and with the injury that’s being executed, it actually ought to stop because you are only damaging our stuff.”
The North Carolina resident, who works as a bookkeeper, described the reflection pool as “a lovely place” and noted that it was her first visit to D.C.
“I’m overwhelmed by the wonder that I see right here, and I hope we are able to continue to keep that for Washington and for the people of the United States,” she said. Renee and Lance Harper, from Oklahoma, also condemned the vandalism and commended the president for his response.
“I respect every thing he is doing, and it is just unlucky,” Renne, 61, said. “Yeah. It’s long overdue, and he is making an attempt to do very well, and there are just some people who let their hate overcome them and destroy our lovely monuments, and they should not,” Lance added.

Reflection Pool chaos
The Reflecting Pool has descended into complete disorder over the last week, with algae transforming the basin—dubbed “American Flag Blue” and a shade personally selected by Donald Trump—into an unsightly chartreuse hue. Last week, the president alleged that someone deliberately carved a 350-foot gash, which he described as “purposefully and criminally executed, and someone had to work very onerous, in all probability in the darkish of night time, to create such a condition.
“Likewise, the small area at the bottom of the Pool was cut and powerfully lifted off the surface, leaving very jagged, uneven edges,” Trump claimed in the same Truth Social post. “The large areas of grass are being replaced. In any event, even before fixing those areas, the Reflecting Pool is as beautiful as it can be.”
Trump then announced he would direct the National Parks division to “drain some of the water, either immediately before or after the Fourth of July, to do the permanent repair.”
