Rob Reiners son demands inheritance as he awaits trial | UK News

The son of Rob Reiner is demanding access to a $1.5 million trust fund established by his late dad and mom. Nick Reiner stands accused of murdering the actor and his spouse, Michele, at their home in December 2025.

The 32-year-old is presently awaiting trial after being charged with two counts of first-degree homicide for allegedly stabbing his dad and mom to death. At an arraignment listening to at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on twenty third February, he entered a “not guilty” plea to the fees. Nick lodged a petition on Monday, June 8, in search of half of the money from the trust fund set up in his title, which he maintains was supposed to be paid “outright when he turned 30.” The remaining funds could be distributed when he reached 35. Yet according to court paperwork, Nick alleges the trustee has failed to release the funds.

“The terms of Nick’s Trust are not complicated, and they are not subject to reasonable dispute,” the doc acknowledged, according to The Wrap.

“Nick’s parents left unambiguous instructions about when the funds in the Trust were to be released to him. One-half of the Trust was required to be distributed to Nick outright when he turned 30. They further instructed that when he turned 35, he would receive the rest of the funds in his Trust. These distributions are mandatory and unconditional.”

According to the petition, the trustee has raised “unsubstantiated concerns” about Nick’s so-called competence to “manage a trust.”

“These distributions are non-discretionary,” the petition claims. “The trust does not authorise the Trustee to condition these distribution points on any subjective assessment by the Trustee as to Nick’s intended use of those funds.”

The paperwork state that Nick needs to use the funds to re-engage “one of the country’s most sought-after criminal defense attorneys,” Alan Jackson, who was “forced to withdraw” from his case in January, “because the anticipated funding did not materialize.” Nick is at present represented by a public defender.

The petition asserts that “the stakes for Nick could not be higher,” noting that he informed the trustee, “Time is of the essence,” and pressured that he required Alan to keep away from “further jeopardising my defence in the criminal matter.

“He has made clear to the Trustee that he desires – and wants – the funds in his own Trust to be launched so that he will pay for his prison defence,” the petition added. “Nick has no other means – to pay for his legal bills, or for his basic help wants while incarcerated.”

The petition indicates that Alan is “prepared, prepared and in a position” to resume his representation.

Rob, 78, and his producer wife Michele, 70, died from “a number of sharp drive accidents” inflicted “with a knife, by another,” on December 14, 2025, according to their death certificates.

Nick was taken into custody on December 15 and has been held on remand ever since. His most current court look was on April 29 for the preliminary listening to, which has since been adjourned until September 15, 2026.
