Rory McIlroy was spotted limping at the Truist Championship, raising considerations with the PGA Championship just days away. McIlroy, who accomplished the profession grand slam with a beautiful Masters victory in 2025, posted the ninth-worst statistical spherical of his profession at the signature event on Saturday with a 75.

He bounced back with a four-under par efficiency on Sunday forward of next week’s PGA Championship, where he’ll attempt to seize his third title at the event. The six-time major champion was visibly limping at Quail Hollow, sparking injury considerations. However, McIlroy later reassured that the issue should not trigger alarm.

“But it’s underneath my nail. So I can’t really get to it or so it’s a little sore, but I’ll be all right,” McIlroy added. “Started to feel it like Friday afternoon.” McIlroy insisted the blister will not be an excuse for any subpar performances in the weeks forward.

“No, not at all. No, that was — I wish that was an excuse, but absolutely not (laughing),” he responded. “No, it’s fine. I’ll be okay.” The 37-year-old indicated he’ll have some areas to tackle before the second major of the season.

“I think the range session last night was good,” said McIlroy. “Figured out a couple of things. As I said, I feel like I got into a couple of bad habits just because of that left-to-right wind on the range all week. So straighten that out.

“I’m going to go home tonight, which shall be good, spend a night time in my own mattress and observe at home tomorrow. Try to get a, you understand, just type of continue that really feel and convey that up to Philadelphia for the remainder of the week.”

McIlroy mentioned he’s already made a visit to Aronimink this year, expressing enthusiasm about competing against the world’s elite players.

“No, I went up and back in the same day. It was good to get — we performed the BMW there in 2018, but the course performed a lot in another way. It was moist in 2018 and the greens did not play as fast or as extreme as what I felt like they performed last week when I performed. So it is not a long golf course, but the big protection is the greens and they’ll tuck the pins away if they need to.

“But yeah it was nice to get an early look at it. It just means that the week of the tournament you’re not under pressure to play a lot of holes and historically the practice rounds at the PGA can be excruciatingly long, so it’s probably going to just be nine holes Tuesday, nine holes Wednesday.”
