Cameron Young made clear he had no intention of cozying up to Rory McIlroy during their spherical together, including that this yr’s Masters champion had little curiosity in dialog either.

“Sunday at the Masters in the ultimate group, you realize, do not want something poorly on the man, but we’re enjoying against each other. Not attempting to be best mates on the market. Just one of those occasions that either you permit each other be and if there may be a second — there have been one or two but not many.”

Young claimed victory at The Players in March and came agonizingly close to securing the Masters title. While partnering with McIlroy is likely to sharpen his experience during the critical stages of tournaments, Young remains confident in his own abilities to get the job done regardless.

“I do not know. He’s clearly a great participant. I watched him play three rounds this week,” said Young. “I believe if you requested him he would admit that he did not drive it notably straight the first two days and did some unimaginable scoring.

“Some of that is down to the randomness of golf. Sometimes you hit a bunch wedges close in a row. Sometimes you don’t.

“So sure, yes. There is a lot to be taught from him. At the same time, I would love to look back on this week more in the sense of I performed great, nicely enough to win, and it just did not fairly fall my manner this time.”
