Savannah Guthrie abruptly leaves Today as co-star | TV Shows

Savannah Guthrie’s co-stars have been compelled to handle her sudden exit after she abruptly left the Today show midway through Wednesday’s broadcast.

The 54-year-old‘s life has been in turmoil after her 84-year-old mom, Nancy Guthrie, went lacking in early February. Savannah stepped back from work following her mother’s abduction.

However, the NBC star has since returned to screens following a prolonged absence. On May 6, viewers have been left shocked when Savannah instantly left the show, with her co-star Craig Melvin apologizing to audiences. It got here as there was a development in Nancy’s case.

Just 90 minutes into the published, Savannah’s co-host Craig announced she was performed for the day.

“Savannah had to leave a little early,” he told viewers, including, “She’ll be right back tomorrow, though.”

A source later told Page Six that Savannah left “for some sort of appointment, and her exit had nothing to do with her mom.”

Savannah has been a main co-anchor on NBC’s Today show since July 2012 and is one of this system’s best-known faces.

After taking two months away from the NBC morning show, Savannah returned to Today on April 6. “It is good to be home,” she said at the start of the show. “Ready or not, let’s do the news.” She had beforehand spoken brazenly about her fears over returning to tv during such a troublesome period in her life.

“It’s hard to imagine doing it because it’s such a place of joy and lightness and I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not,” Savannah said of returning to Today.

The TV host added, “But I can’t not come back because it’s my family. I think it’s part of my purpose right now. I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it’s not, I’ll say so. I have been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family, my greater family, and when times are hard, you want to be with your family. And I want to be with my family.”

She also admitted, “I don’t know if I can do it. I don’t know if I’ll belong anymore, but I would like to try. I would like to try. I’m not gonna be the same, but maybe it’s like that old poem, more beautiful in the broken places.”

Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. At her property, authorities discovered blood on the entrance porch which was later confirmed to belong to Nancy.

She also reportedly had restricted mobility and required daily medication. Police have continued working alongside the FBI, finishing up DNA testing, reviewing surveillance footage and following up hundreds of ideas from the public.

Despite months of looking, no major breakthrough has been announced, and Nancy stays lacking.
