Scottie Scheffler’s alternative to take part in Wednesday’s apply spherical at Aronimink, while other rivals opted out due to course circumstances, appears to be benefiting the world’s primary golfer.

“You never know going into a tournament how things are going to be,” said Scheffler. “You just get a feel for the golf course and how firm the greens are, and I was a bit surprised how far they pushed a lot of these pin locations.

“But I imply, after when you are trying at the pins Wednesday evening you see it, you are like, oh, wow, they’re pushing these issues as far as they will, and you go, okay, great. Then you already know going into it.

“I was a bit surprised how windy it was. When we went out to play our practice round on Wednesday, there was guys that even elected not to play just because of how windy it was on Wednesday, and it was fairly comparable to or comparable to how it was this morning.

“And I used to be glad I went on the market and performed on Wednesday because I feel that expertise on a new golf course and a lot of wind was helpful for me going into today’s spherical.”

Scheffler highlighted the dramatically different pin placements following his one-over round on Friday.

“I’m sitting there, the wind’s blowing 20, 25 miles an hour right-to-left,” said Scheffler. “And I acquired a inexperienced that goes like down right-to-left into a valley, up left-to-right, back right-to-left, and then the pin is kind of actually, if I hit that chip shot and the pin’s right here and it goes to there, it goes all the way in which over the back of the inexperienced, and now I have a very, very troublesome up-and-down for bogey.

“I assume a lot of it’s you have to be a little cautious is how I might say it.”
