Secretary of Transport Sean Duffy has blamed “changing the names from cockpit to flight deck” for undermining security within the wake of the Washington DC crash.
Duffy, who was slammed for blunders and ‘shrugging off duty’ after Wednesday’s tragedy, is blaming the Biden administration for “misplaced direction of leadership.”
The ex-MTV star, who’s within the first week of his new function, was requested by Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream if the discussions round DEI hires had turn out to be a huge distraction.
“The mission of DOT and FAA is safety. That has been the historic mission of this agency,” acknowledged Duffy.
“Over the last four years…they’re having a conversation in the last administration about changing names from ‘cockpit’ to ‘flightdeck’ or ‘notice-to airmen’ to ‘notice-to air mission’ because it’s too gender-specific.
“They’re targeted on social justice and the surroundings, racist roads, EVs. They’ve misplaced sight of the mission of this division.”
Duffy didn’t go as far as to directly blame DEI for the devastating tragedy, which claimed the lives of 64 passengers and crew on an American Airlines jet and three soldiers aboard a Black Hawk helicopter.
But he came very close, saying: “When you take a look at what went improper, you might have to take a look at the people that you’ve got in place on the DOT and FAA, and the management, and the direction that management provides them.
“It’s been misfocused in the last four years. We’re back on mission – focused on safety.”
Duffy has backed Donald Trump‘s seemingly baseless declare that DEI hires have been at fault for the crash.
When requested why he had that perception, Trump merely replied: “Because I have common sense and unfortunately a lot of people don’t.”
Duffy has additionally introduced a full ban on celebrations of identification within the Transport Department.
He tweeted: “Effective immediately, the Department of Transportation will no longer participate in celebrations based on immutable traits or any other identity-based observances.
“These distractions do nothing to keep planes within the air, trains on the tracks, or ports and highways secure. In the wake of two devastating aircraft crashes, my focus is singular: implementing the very best requirements of security and accountability.
