The Gilded Age is set to dazzle audiences once again with its third season, following the explosive revelations of sequence two that left Aunt Agnes (performed by Christine Baranski) reeling from an surprising bombshell. Devotees of the lavish period drama had been also over the moon to witness Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) finally share a smooch with Larry Russell (Harry Richardson) after episodes stuffed with simmering stress between the pair.

The official blurb for the upcoming season teases: “Following the Opera War, the old guard is weakened and the Russells stand poised to take their place at the head of society. Bertha sets her sights on a prize that would elevate the family to unimaginable heights while George risks everything on a gambit that could revolutionize the railroad industry – if it doesn’t ruin him first.

HBO has introduced that the sequence will premiere on June 22 in the US, while UK followers can catch the grandeur on Now or Sky beginning June 23.

The forged of The Gilded Age have been dropping hints about the upcoming sequence, with Christine, who performs Aunt Agnes, sharing insights at the ATX TV Festival: “If there’s an overriding theme in this entire Gilded Age show, I think it is how people are coping with change, each character individually coping with tremendous change, and changes that are happening in society at the time.

“I feel if Ada had wished to change the draperies, Agnes would have had problem. So whatever Ada’s up to goes to rankle Agnes because it isn’t her thought.”

Christine also disclosed that while her character Agnes resists the transformations around her, she as an actress is excited by the opportunity to explore new directions.

“If you are enjoying somebody who’s firmly satisfied that her place is correct and then you get toppled, there’s so many locations you may go comedically and tragically,” she divulged.

The Gilded Age airs on Sky and Now on June 23.
