Soldiers at Fort Bragg military base have reportedly been told to put together for deployment to town of Minneapolis.
According to experiences online, yesterday, the Pentagon ordered active-duty troopers with a military police unit in North Carolina to put together for attainable deployment to Minneapolis, sources told @MSNOWNews.
When requested for remark, a Pentagon official said, “We don’t have anything to announce at this time, and any tip about this is pre-decisional.”
At least a few hundred soldiers will be prepared for the possible mobilization to the state where tensions are running high, insiders told MSNOW. The immigration raid on the city has caused widespread civil unrest.
Thousands of immigration agents are clashing with residents and protestors, following the fatal shooting of local woman, Renee Good, by an ICE agent. The 37-year-old mother of three was shot in the face three times.
A military police brigade would have some law enforcement training and typically have experience in providing security, securing routes, and performing crowd control, MSNOW wrote.
Last summer, Trump deployed about 700 active-duty Marines to Los Angeles. They primarily stood guard around federal buildings, including a detention center.
However, much like California Governor Gavin Newsom, the mayor of Minneapolis made it clear that the active duty soldiers are not wanted or welcome in his city.
Jacob Frey said Sunday that sending active duty soldiers into Minnesota to help with an immigration crackdown is a ridiculous and unconstitutional idea.
“It’s ridiculous, but we won’t be intimidated by the actions of this federal authorities,” Frey told GWN’s State of the Union on Sunday. “It will not be honest, it isn’t just, and it is fully unconstitutional.”
