Luger Sophia Kirkby, the self-proclaimed “Most Eligible Bachelorette” at the Olympic Village, spoke to The Post on Friday via Zoom while on an precise espresso date on the streets of Milan.
“He is a fan that jumped into my DMs two weeks ago,” Kirkby, 24, said.
“He said, ‘Hey, I just found out I have the 13th to 16th off. Would it be weird if I came and booked an Airbnb five minutes from you?’ And I was like, ‘Go ahead.’ He’s actually from the United States. He’s just currently living in the UK. And he flew here just to see me.”
She will also be spending Valentine’s Day with him.

The native of upstate Ray Brook, NY, close to Lake Placid, accomplished her Olympic run on Thursday, taking home fifth place with her accomplice, Chevonne Forgan of Massachusetts. The pair made historical past by competing in the first-ever ladies’s doubles luge at the Winter Games.
So now, she’s prepared to mingle.
“I’m fortunate that I’m one of the countries that gets to stay in the Olympic Village. The majority of my competitors I saw leave today, but fortunately for me, Team USA is one of the few countries that pays a premium for us to be here the entire time,” she explained.
“So I’m just gonna have fun. It’s my vacation time.”

“Then there’s skeleton, I’m somewhat familiar with them. And then there’s bobsled. I’m not doing that again. My ex is a bobsledder. And then I think all the curlers have girlfriends.”

On Feb. 4, she announced on Instagram that she’d be chronicling what it’s like to be an Olympian courting at the Winter Games — and was flooded with messages from eligible bachelors.
“I would estimate by now, I have over 2,000 message requests,” said Kirkby, who is also a potter and peddling her handcrafted pins at a store in Cortina.
“The thing that I loved was people that just gave me a full description of their name, height, age, occupation.”
Olympic snowboarder Jake Pates didn’t take Kirkby up on her offer.
She’s also on Tinder, but hasn’t been impressed with who she’s been matching with on the app.
“It’s a little disappointing, I’m not going to lie. In my bio, I even said, ‘I’m Sophia. I’m an Olympian. Please give me your best pickup line.’ Maybe 2% of them are pickup lines,” she lamented.
“All they do is say, ‘Hi’ or ‘Ciao.’ I was hoping that they would deliver, so I’m not going to respond to them.”
When requested about the reported condom scarcity at this 12 months’s Games, she said, “I have not seen any rubbers, not gonna lie.”
