Southwest Airlines Breaks Silence on Major Mistake

Earlier this week Southwest Airlines took severe heat for “forgetting” two ladies, who are both blind, behind after a delayed flight.

On Monday, July 14, Camille Tate and Sherri Brun have been booked to sit together on Southwest flight 2637. The pair was unable to see data about their flight having been delayed, and they allege there was poor communication from airline workers.

The associates ultimately took off after 5 hours of ready, but realized they have been the only people on the two-hour flight from Louisiana to Orlando as all the other passengers from their unique flight had been rebooked onto an earlier Southwest flight.

“You’re the only two people on this flight because they forgot about you,” Brun recalled, per WSVN 7 News.

Southwests Initial Response to the Incident

An initial assertion from the airline said Brun and Tate have been each provided a $100 voucher and obtained an apology from the airline. “In the event of a gate change, our employees are responsible for ensuring all customers who need assistance reach the new gate,” the Southwest Airlines assertion read.

“We apologize for the inconvenience. Southwest is always looking for ways to improve our customers’ travel experiences, and we’re active in the airline industry in sharing best practices about how to best accommodate passengers with disabilities.”

Southwest Changes Its Mind

While Southwest initially apologized for the mishap, the airline issued a new assertion to People that claims the 2 ladies who have been forgotten are “inaccurate,” while confirming that the ladies have been scheduled for flight 2637.

“Many of the Customers on that flight were accommodated on another MCO-bound flight that left a little earlier from a nearby gate,” the Southwest Airlines assertion reads. “We attempted to locate the two Customers, but were unable to find them in time to rebook them on that flight. Our records show they flew to MCO on the airplane that had been parked at their original gate.”
