Fans of Stephen Colbert have been left fuming after the TV host appeared to miss some enormous news on his show last evening.
The 61-year-old comic congratulated the American males’s hockey staff after their Winter Olympics gold medal win over the weekend.
However, he appeared to neglect that the ladies’s staff also received a gold medal during the Olympics, which have been held in Italy. It comes after a Fox News visitor was branded ‘demented’ as she lashed out at Colbert.
Stephen said, “Yesterday the Olympics wrapped up in Milan, and it was a thrilling closing day for the United States because the US men’s hockey team beat Canada to win their first gold medal since 1980.”
Celebrating the win, the TV host said, “Yeah! Boom. Yeah! That’s right.”
As people in the viewers started saying, “USA! USA! USA!” to rejoice, Stephen joked, “In your polite face, Canada!
“We beat you at hockey. That’s your complete factor. That’d be such as you beating us at squandering our worldwide goodwill.”
He added, “It was an thrilling win for a younger American staff that wasn’t supposed to find a way to take on Canada which ended with this stunning purpose in additional time.”
Praising Jack Hughes for scoring the winning goal, Stephen said, “That is implausible. That was shifting. That was so stunning.”
He also pointed out that Jack is only 24 and joked about the fact that he lost some teeth while playing.
“He’s so younger, he would not even have all this tooth yet,” the comedian said on his late-night show on February 23.
While many people in the comment section were supportive of the men’s hockey team, others pointed out that the women’s gold medal also deserved a mention.

“I’m proud of the Women’s staff for declining the WH invite,” a person said, referring to the fact that the gold-winning team politely declined an invitation from President Donald Trump to attend his State of the Union address on Tuesday.
“We are sincerely grateful for the invitation prolonged to our gold medal–successful US Women’s Hockey Team and deeply respect the popularity of their extraordinary achievement,” the women’s team said in a statement released on Monday.
“Due to the timing and beforehand scheduled educational and skilled commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to take part. They have been honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment.”
