Nadiya Bychkova has announced she is leaving Strictly Come Dancing in a complicated assertion she’s shared with her a whole lot of hundreds of Instagram followers. The 36-year-old skilled dancer penned: “After nine wonderful years, this part of my journey with Strictly Come Dancing is evolving. There is something truly special about being part of a programme that plays such a big part in so many people’s lives, and I want to thank all those who have sent beautiful messages over the last few weeks and those who have voted, shouted, supported, celebrated and cheered during every series.
“I also need to take a second to respect all those who have helped me along the best way: my companions, my fellow professionals, the judges and good people behind the scenes. I joined the show as an athlete and a double world champion.”
The Ukrainian dancer also said she has grown “not only professionally, but personally and creatively” from the experience on the BBC programme which used to be hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
She added: “Strictly has allowed me to uncover new sides of myself, develop new expertise, and evolve as an artist in methods I’ll always be grateful for.”
Issuing a cryptic message, she noted: “This isn’t the end… I look ahead to being half of the Strictly world for many years to come in methods I’m starting to explore.
“I’ve changed a lot since I first stepped onto that dance floor, not just as a performer, but as a person and I can honestly say I’ve never felt more like myself.
“I’m excited to have time to focus on new initiatives, and to spend more treasured time with my lovely daughter. Life feels full of potentialities. I danced before Strictly, I beloved dancing on the show and I plan to keep dancing for many years to come.
Thank you for all the love and support along the best way.”
Her followers rallied around to support her, with fellow pro Johannes Radebe writing: “YOU are magnificence personified.” Former contestant Helen Skelton penned: “Here’s to the next chapter.” Other Strictly stars such as Karen Hauer said: “You are great.”
