White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles issued a seething “See you Monday” assertion following a White House report she described as “fiction.”
Wiles forcefully rejected a Friday evening report claiming that she plans to step down after the November midterms. The 69-year-old issued the uncommon assertion via X after the Daily Mail revealed an article alleging that she was getting ready to depart, in half due to supposed disagreements with President Donald Trump.
Wiles accused news reporters of spending a decade attempting to “manufacture drama” around Trump.
“They were wrong then, and they are wrong now,” she added. “See you Monday.”
The Daily Mail reported that Wiles, who has labored for Trump since his 2015 marketing campaign, has grown annoyed with the president’s latest Cabinet appointments.
Trump lately named Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to serve as appearing director of National Intelligence following Tulsi Gabbard’s departure.
Pulte’s appointment was seen as a direct insult to Wiles, three White House insiders told the outlet. Wiles was said to have “vehemently” opposed the extraordinary step of permitting Pulte to immediately oversee all of the CIA and 16 other national businesses.
Insiders told the outlet that Trump has more and more come to resent Wiles telling him what to do. “She is loyal to Trump, but he is now basically saying, ‘Look, Ma, you are not the boss of me,'” a source said.
Pulte’s lack of expertise in intelligence has drawn scrutiny, notably following his position in orchestrating a “50-year mortgage” proposal that was shortly aborted.
A White House spokesperson told the outlet that Wiles stays “committed to the president” and has continued to work despite her cancer diagnosis.
