The Gold Is Still There – RedState

Following through counts for a lot.

On Monday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced he was visiting the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He took to his X account to make the announcement:

At Fort Knox, we have come to see the gold!

Our nation has about a hundred and forty-seven million ounces of gold, and about half of it’s saved right here at Fort Knox.

In the post, Senator Paul writes:

At Fort Knox, we have come to see the gold!

We’re gonna be going deep underground to see the gold, but more importantly, we’re gonna be speaking today about what occurred to our greenback when we separated from gold in 1971. 

I’m going underground, and I’ll let you understand what I see in a little bit.

In issues such as this, first you say it, then you do it, then you say it again. That’s what Senator Paul did after the go to to the gold.

I visited Fort Knox today.

Well, he is not unsuitable. At least we now have another assurance that the gold is definitely there, or, at least, that there may be gold in there. My colleague Nick Arama, writing in July, also introduced us the assurances of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who also verified that yes, there is gold in that thar fort.

In the letter to the Treasury that Senator Paul despatched saying his intention to go to the Depository, he also expresses his need to see an unbiased audit carried out of the gold contained there. Is there actually as a lot as the Treasury says is there? Is it, as they are saying, all three nines tremendous? What about the United States’ bullion saved elsewhere? I’m suspecting it is all there and accounted for; stealing gold from under the noses of the American authorities from the very amenities meant to keep it secure could be a major process even for a sure James Bond villain. But it’s our gold, technically talking, and it would not be the worst concept to have somebody go through and tally it up now and then. I imply, we all had been taught to stability our checkbooks periodically. Shouldn’t the nation do likewise?

Of course, we now have to stability our personal and household budgets, as effectively. Washington? Not so a lot, and sooner or later, that’s going to come back and chew us.

This has been a concern since President Nixon took the United States off the gold commonplace. It’s inflationary, but worse, it means our money only serves as a medium of exchange as long as we consider it does. There’s no metallic behind it; nothing strong, just the full religion and credit of the United States. That’s price more than the full religion and credit of, say, Zimbabwe, but in the end, it is all just paper. Fiat currencies will come and they are going to go, but gold will always be money. 

Right now, proper right here in Alaska, we’re mining gold even today – actually digging money out of the ground. That’s definitely price doing. It’s liable to be price doing even more in a long time to come.
