The Marxist Long March in America Must Be Stopped

Unlike the bloody Bolshevik Revolution that unexpectedly introduced Marxism to Moscow and finally Eastern Europe, American socialists have sought a different path. 

In the United States, socialists have pursued revolution through stealthier, softer, and slower means, what many lecturers refer to as the “long march through the institutions.” 

Whether this strategy must be credited to Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci or German scholar activist Rudi Dutschke is beside the purpose. 

Suffice it to say, in America, the socialist long march has triumphed.

As many polls show, socialism is more widespread than ever in America, particularly among younger Americans.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), “the largest socialist organization in the United States,” wields more political energy than ever.

The DSA has scores of members in political places of work throughout the nation, with lots of more on the poll in November. It has money. It has momentum. 

But most importantly, it has the hearts and minds of younger people.

Long story short: the Left’s long march has already succeeded.

To perceive why the long march has been so profitable, one must acknowledge its cornerstone: training indoctrination.

Not that long in the past, I used to be a public high faculty social research instructor. 

I would like to describe my expertise briefly. 

Before getting into the classroom, I had to earn a degree from an accredited instructor school. 

I’m not exaggerating when I say that my two-year program at a distinguished educator school in Chicago did little to put together me to be an efficient instructor. To my frustration, ample time was devoted to long discourses on far-left political and social ideology. 

Social and emotional studying strategies had been deemed far superior to content mastery. We had been told to fixate on educational equity, not educational excellence.

Most of my professors had been more involved with getting ready us to turn out to be social justice warriors far more than they had been involved that we’d be good academics. 

During my scholar educating period at a high faculty in a Chicago suburb, my mentor instructor bolstered this narrative. The instructor groupthink was startling. Frankly, I used to be afraid to converse out on the grounds that I might be reprimanded someway. 

Unsurprisingly, I encountered this same dynamic during my a number of years as a social research instructor in Illinois and South Carolina.

Here is one anecdote. The day after President Trump gained the 2016 election, practically every instructor in the social research division wore all-black clothes because they “were in mourning.” This occurred in ruby pink South Carolina.

Parents must perceive that the extent of Marxist indoctrination occurring in public faculties has reached a disaster level.

A era of American college students has been deliberately misinformed about the evil nature of socialism. On the opposite, they’ve been miseducated into believing that socialism is righteous.

Millions of American college students have no thought that socialism has been tried and failed time and time again. They are unaware of the mass poverty, distress, and homicide that socialist governments have wrought upon their people. 

Even worse, they’re being brainwashed into believing that particular person liberty and free enterprise are the real enemies. 

As a libertarian, I’m usually not for authorities intervention and mandates. However, in the realm of public training, I believe the case is so dire that those heavy-handed options could be the only manner to drive change.

To his credit, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis noticed this drawback coming years in the past.

In 2024, DeSantis signed SB 1264 into law, which “requires instruction in public schools about the history of communism.”

In 2025, the Florida Department of Education authorised “new History of Communism standards” to equip “students with a truthful, in-depth understanding of how communist ideologies suppress individual freedoms, abuse power, and inflict widespread suffering.”

Anastasios Kamoutsas, Florida’s Education Commissioner at the time, emphasised that the “standards will ensure that students learn the truth about the brutal realities of life under communism and gain a deeper appreciation for the blessings of liberty that define our nation.”

“With the resurgence of communist ideologies across the United States,” he added, “it is more important than ever for students to understand the catastrophic failures and human suffering caused by communist regimes.”

I couldn’t agree more. 

This fall, Florida public college students are studying the reality about socialism. Could this be the start of the end of the long march? I sure hope so.
