Those Gotcha Attempts Just Didnt Work – RedState

On Sunday, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem appeared on “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker” to focus on the current flooding in Texas, along with the horrible human price of that occasion. The “Meet the Press” anchor also requested a number of questions about the continued efforts by the Trump administration to detain and repatriate unlawful aliens, including final week’s raid on a California pot farm.

Now, NBC is not significantly pleasant ground for Trump administration officers at the best of instances, but Secretary Noem dealt with it adroitly enough; Kristen Welker’s occasional makes an attempt at a “gotcha” fell flat.

Here are a few highlights. First, on the federal response:

Kirsten Welker: Thank you for being right here after a remarkably busy week. I did have an alternative to communicate with President Trump by telephone. He did reward your response to the floods in Texas. There are clearly a lot of questions though, so I need to discuss to you about some of those, including about a rule that you lately applied. It reportedly requires that every FEMA contract, every grant over $100,000 be personally authorised by you. Now, officers within the company have instructed a number of information retailers that the coverage led to a slower deployment of some FEMA sources, including city search and rescue crews. So let me just ask you: Did your coverage delay some of the important response sources on the ground in Texas

Secretary Noem: You know, those claims are completely false. Within just an hour or two after the flooding we had sources from the Department of Homeland Security there, serving to those people in Texas. It was a heartbreaking scene. And I feel it has been nicely coated about what the Coast Guard did, how they had been deployed immediately and helped rescue so many people from those floodwaters. And we had Border Patrol down there with their tactical groups, and FEMA was there just within a few hours as nicely. So those claims are false. They’re from people who will not put their title behind those claims. And those call facilities had been totally staffed and responsive. And this is the quickest I imagine, in years, perhaps a long time that FEMA has been deployed to help people in this kind of a scenario.

Note the important thing level: The people who are making the claims that Kristen Welker describes are retaining themselves safely nameless. We noticed enough of that during the earlier Trump administration to see how that goes. Granted, there are definitely instances in which a whistleblower might need to stay nameless, but we all noticed the speedy response to the Texas flooding from numerous ranges of authorities, not just the federal authorities. Activating and deploying sources on this scale is not like flipping a change; if it only takes hours, that’s remarkably fast.

Then, on the California pot farm busts:

Secretary Noem: The details of how we do our investigations and our case work and what ICE officers are doing at this time is they are going on the market and building a case just like different law enforcement officers do. They’re going on the market and doing the investigative work, gathering the knowledge to determine how we’re going to run our ops and how we’re going to goal people. And overwhelmingly, people have heard the president say over and over again about how important it’s that we proceed to go after the worst of the worst. This week, we have murderers off the road, rapists, little one pedophiles. If you look at that marijuana grow facility that we just lately just did an operation on, over 319 people had been introduced into custody and 14 unaccompanied kids that are kids that means that they do not have their dad and mom with them. They’re working in a facility where they may very well be exploited, trafficked, perhaps intercourse trafficked. And then we have people there who are working at the identical facility who are creating, distributing, and taking benefit of kids for little one pornography.

Note the numbers that the Secretary apparently had to hand:

• 319 unlawful aliens apprehended.
• 14 unaccompanied minors, who had been presumably working illegally at a pot farm.
• At least one particular person was producing little one pornography.

This is exactly what we voted for. This is how it is achieved. And this is how you deal with the legacy media.

You struggle unhealthy data with good data, and that’s what’s taking place right here. 

Some might say that it is ill-advised for a Trump administration official to seem on an unfriendly community, but a calm, even-handed refutation like this is even more efficient in an unfriendly atmosphere. Anyone can go in and communicate to an echo chamber, but it takes some talent, some fortitude, and a good command of the details to deal with tried “gotchas” from a media outlet you understand shall be making an attempt to immediate slip-ups. 

This time, it went nicely enough. But this is a messaging conflict, one that will go on until January 2029 – and seemingly afterward.

Thanks to President Trump, unlawful immigration into our great nation has just about stopped. Despite the novel left’s lies, new laws wasn’t needed to secure our border, just a new president.
