Today anchors share honest take on Savannah | TV Shows
Savannah Guthrie is scheduled to make her long-awaited comeback to the Today show on Monday, April 6.
The 54-year-old anchor has been absent from the morning broadcast for practically two months. She stepped away unexpectedly to help the FBI and Tucson authorities in finding her 84-year-old mom, Nancy, who went lacking from her Arizona home on February 1.
Now that a thriller man who claimed he “saw Nancy 5 days ago” provided chilling new proof, Savannah is ready to resume her place on this system. Hoda Kotb, who has been substituting for her throughout this period, revealed Savannah’s comeback during the March 27 episode.
Following the announcement, Craig Melvin explained why he believes she has made the choice to return, stating, “Because she is not going to let sadness win.
“The pleasure goes to be her protest.”
“It’s where she belongs. It’s where we wish her to be,” the anchor continued. “We can’t wait to welcome her back with open arms right here at Studio 1A.”
Craig also noted that since Nancy’s disappearance, not a single day has gone by without someone asking him, “When is Savannah coming back?”
Al Roker then observed the significance of her return date, noting, “What’s fantastic is that it is virtually symbolic after Easter and the resurrection. I believe, as a household, we’ll maintain arms.”
After Hoda expressed her anticipation of Savannah returning to this “regular pillar in her life,” Dylan Dreyer added, “She is aware of she has all of our help. We cannot wait to give her that.”
The hosts’ reactions follow reports that revealed disappointment among the cast about her comeback.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, an insider stated, “Craig completely devastated he did not get that interview,” referring to the dialog between Savannah and Hoda, which aired on March 26 and 27.

“He thought it was his second with Savannah – and it never even got here his manner,” the source continued. “He wasn’t just handed over – he wasn’t even requested. That’s what actually stings.”
Craig reportedly viewed it as a “major setback.”
Following these allegations, a Today spokesperson refuted the claims, stating, “Craig was looped in and absolutely supportive of Savannah’s interview with Hoda.”
While behind-the-scenes friction may be escalating, Nancy Guthrie remains unaccounted for. Despite this, Savannah continues “holding onto religion” that her mother will be located.
Savannah first addressed the situation publicly on Monday, February 2. Since then, she has maintained her determination to find her mother, with her family even providing a reward of up to $1 million for her mother’s recovery.
The host’s return to the Today show arrives as the mysterious disappearance of an Air Force normal attracts a number of chilling similarities to the Nancy case.
