Tom Brady is keen to be half of the commentary crew for Ireland’s inaugural regular-season NFL recreation, which might fulfil a “dream come true” for him. “Coming back and bringing all the great climate from the States, I’m going to deliver more of that when I come.” Earlier this year, upon announcing the landmark event, Dan Rooney Jr – the Steelers’ director of business development and strategy – said: “The Steelers are excited and honoured to play in the NFL’s first ever common season recreation in Ireland.

“The Rooney family has deep ties to the island, having immigrated from there in the 1800s, eventually settling in Pittsburgh, PA, where my great grandfather would go on to found our franchise in 1933. We’re excited to represent our hometown of Pittsburgh internationally and play in front of a growing number of Steelers fans abroad.

“Today’s announcement builds off our deep connections to the island and charts a path ahead to what we really feel is a very thrilling future for the Steelers in Ireland.” Details of international fixtures, including additional games in Madrid and Berlin for the 2025 season, are expected to be released on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Melbourne is gearing up to host Australia’s first game in 2026. Brady achieved an impressive collection of seven Super Bowl wins and five MVP awards as a quarterback before joining FOX as a lead colour commentator last year.

He made his commentary debut in the second quarter of the UFL Championship Game in 2024 before working with the FOX NFL Sunday show. He also contributed to the broadcaster’s coverage of Super Bowl LIX this year, which saw the Philadelphia Eagles claim victory over the Kansas City Chiefs with a score of 40-22.

The 47-year-old initially faced criticism but gradually settled into his role as the season unfolded, despite encountering additional challenges. After acquiring a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady found himself subject to several restrictions.

He is now prohibited from attending broadcast production meetings, denied access to team facilities as well as coach and player interactions, and he is not allowed to publicly criticise game officials and other teams. The Raiders are not the only team that Brady has invested in; the California-born former player also owns a minority stake in Birmingham City.
