Tom Kerridge has opened up concerning the “horrible” expertise he confronted after his gastropub was upgraded to 2 Michelin stars.

“And then the next six to nine months, they were horrible, they were awful, they were really really hard.
“People had been evaluating it, ‘Well it is not the Ledbury and it is not Le Manoir’.”
Tom said with this criticism, he felt the need to defend himself by reminding people that they’re a pub, and not a high-end restaurant.
“We are a pub we aren’t a nation home resort, we aren’t a Mayfair restaurant,” he shared.
“It is a ‘Here’s your plate, thoughts it, it is likely to be a bit sizzling’ [kind of place].”
The chef went on to say he felt a “huge embrace” when the pub started to be recognised more widely and won awards.
“All of a sudden we do not need all of that different stuff to have the ability to recognised as actually good,” he added.
“We’re form of like that entry stage [first Michelin] and I really like the truth that we have made it really feel maybe just a contact more attainable and accessible.”
