White House insiders have expressed concern that U.S.-Israeli operations in Iran threaten to harm the GOP at the poll box come November.

The United States and Israel started launching assaults on Iran for Operation Epic Fury on Feb. 28, during which Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, was killed. Senior administration officers have indicated that the president stays steadfast in his dedication to wipe out Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, ballistic arsenal, naval forces and proxy networks.

However, in response to the operation, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes on Israel and U.S. navy bases throughout the area and tightened its control on the Strait of Hormuz, where almost a fifth of the world’s oil provide travels yearly.

Subsequently, power costs have skyrocketed forward of the high-stakes midterm elections in November, during which the Republican Party is at risk of dropping control of the House and Senate.

The rising fuel costs come at a second when American voters have persistently voiced their issues about affordability, a time period U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly scoffed at and dismissed as a Democratic hoax.

It also comes as Trump’s approval score has plummeted, hovering below 40 %, as the White House handles a number of controversial conditions, from the invasion of Venezuela to the killing of U.S. residents by federal immigration brokers in Minnesota and the release of the Epstein recordsdata, in which the president was named in “countless times” and was accused of inappropriately assaulting a minor.

He has never confronted any costs in connection with the late intercourse offender and vehemently denies all accusations.

At least two oil tankers have already been set ablaze in Iraqi waters in what seems to be an Iranian assault on Gulf delivery, additional raising issues about the future of fuel costs.

“The Iranians f–king around with the Strait makes him more dug in,” a senior White House official told Axios.

One advisor added, “The president is bullish on the success of the operation thus far and feels the country will realize he was right, per usual, once it’s over and the objectives are fully met.”

Echoing both sources, another advisor told Axios, “The president sees the briefings. He sees the numbers. And he feels good about his decision, militarily. Oil is another matter. No one is panicking, but it’s a concern. He’s pulling out the stops. There’s plenty of oil. It’s just getting it on the market that’s the thing.”

Without providing details, Trump vowed that he had “a plan” to address the oil price surge in a phone interview with The New York Post on Monday. He continues to downplay the potential threat the situation in the Strait poses to the U.S. economy and is reportedly considering several options.

Chief among them is deploying naval escorts to the oil tankers traveling through the strait and providing insurance for the vessels, Axios reports.

World leaders also agreed to release 400 million barrels of emergency oil reserves after Trump pushed for the plan. Among “the largest emergency oil reserve release in history” will be 172 million barrels from U.S. stockpiles.

Initially, Trump said he expected the operations to carry on for “4 to 5 weeks.” However, the White House has not provided a clear timeline or clearly stated its goals for operations in Iran.

“I wouldn’t say he’s looking for an exit strategy,” a confidant who spoke with the president just lately told Axios. “But he doesn’t want this to last longer than it needs to.”
