Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, who launched their steakhouse in September, have confronted backlash over an merchandise on their menu. The NFL stars, identified for their investments, opened 1587 Prime, a Kansas City steakhouse, which formally started serving on September 17 and has already garnered 230 Google reviews.

Despite attracting high-profile diners, WNBA star and Missouri native Sophie Cunningham declined her invitation. The restaurant has carried out effectively in its first month, boasting a 4.3-star score on Google, but the £24 twice-baked potato has drawn criticism. 1587 Prime is an upscale institution, offering dishes ranging from £16 mashed potatoes to a whopping £345 40oz Wagyu Tomahawk. Patrons are required to gown in “business casual or dressy evening wear,” although Chiefs jerseys are allowed on match days.

Due to high demand, securing a reservation could be difficult, but some fortunate diners have managed to snag a desk. As per the Google reviews, patrons have had largely optimistic experiences so far.

“We showed up 15 minutes prior to our scheduled time and were seated immediately. Our food came out very quickly. Loved the live entertainment,” one diner penned.

“My wife and I were fortunate enough to get a reservation here. One of the nicest restaurants I’ve been to. Decor was beautiful and staff was great. The food was amazing as well,” another glad buyer wrote.

However, the potato accompaniments have not obtained such optimistic suggestions. “We ordered the twice-baked potato-since things in a box on the menu are a signature item, and this was in a box, I was excited,” one review read. “Probably one of the most disappointing baked potatoes I’ve ever had.”

Another diner remarked on a number of dishes, stating: “Food 7/10 and being gracious. Steak was not flavorful, but tender. Twice baked potato was overseasoned and looked gray.

“Fried chicken appetizer was overcooked, mashed potatoes had been actually whipped potatoes… like pretend mashed potatoes, but had good taste. The wedge salad was AWESOME.”

One patron expressed considerable frustration, claiming the menu pricing was unrealistic for Kansas City and better suited to a celebrity clientele. “It’s a good ambiance. It’s actually lovely, but there’s nothing well worth the money on the menu. It’s virtually insulting,” they penned.

Despite the upmarket venue, 1587 Prime will be hosting a tailgate celebration before Monday’s match against the Washington Commanders. The official Instagram page revealed the establishment would be entertaining patrons ahead of Monday Night Football.

“The Chiefs vs Commanders sport at Arrowhead on October twenty seventh just bought even better! You can be part of 1587 Prime for a tailgate with food, music and merch in the Ford Tailgate District before the sport,” a post read.
