President Donald Trump insinuated that Senate Democrats will make a deal to end the continued partial authorities shutdown to keep away from a GOP termination of the filibuster.
Trump made the remarks in one of a number of livid posts he made on Truth Social on Thursday morning forward of a Cabinet assembly later in the day. The current partial authorities shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, which just entered its fortieth day, has triggered a major disaster at airports across the nation. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport brokers have gone on strike and refuse to work without pay amid the shutdown, shedding more than 480 officers, TSA officers told lawmakers.
The staffing scarcity disaster led the president to ship Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) brokers to airports to exchange them, as annoyed vacationers have had to wait on average for 4 hours while dealing with the “highest wait times in TSA history,” TSA officers say.
Trump warned Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) that Senate Republicans will end the filibuster if Democrats fail to vote to end the shutdown.
“Chuck Schumer, a desperate, crippled politician, who has lost control of the Radical Left Democrats, will make a deal now because he thinks that if he doesn’t, Republicans will TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, something which they should do whether he makes a deal or not!!!”, Trump wrote Thursday morning on Truth Social.

Trump has repeatedly called on Senate Republicans to transfer to end the filibuster. “When is ‘enough, enough’ for our Republican Senators,” Trump wrote Thursday morning on Truth Social just before issuing his threats to Schumer.
“There comes a time when you must do what should have been done a long time ago, and something which the Lunatic Democrats will do on day one, if they ever get the chance,” he continued. “TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, and get our airports, and everything else, moving again. Also, add the complete, all five items, SAVE AMERICA ACT items. Go for the Gold!!!”.
Senators failed to advance a funding invoice on Wednesday afternoon after both events confirmed no motion on the problems, indicating a lack of progress among lawmakers to attain an settlement.
Senate Democrats issued their latest proposal to end the DHS shutdown that day, which Schumer described as a “reasonable, good-faith proposal” for ICE reforms.
However, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) rejected the offer as “not even close to being real,” including that Democrats are “asking for things that have already been turned down, so it just seems like they’re going in circles.”
It comes after Republicans agreed to take away funding for ICE deportations in the invoice. However, Democrats have been pushing for additional reforms amid nationwide backlash to the Trump administration’s immigration insurance policies.
Trump officers have repeatedly blamed the Democrats for the continued airport disaster. Yesterday, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Blame the Democrats for the Airport’s mess. They want our Country to do badly. They want our Country to fail. They broke the already signed Bill because they want to take care of Criminals who enter our Country illegally, rather than American citizens.”
He added, warning, “Thank you to our great ICE Patriots for helping. It makes a big difference. I may call up the National Guard for more help.”
