President Donald Trump has issued a chilling message about the continued Russia-Ukraine warfare.

As Trump took questions from reporters on Thursday night time in the Oval Office, he reiterated his earlier notion that the warfare might escalate into a third world warfare.

“I’d like to see the killing stop,25,000 people died last month, soldiers, mostly soldiers….I would love to see it stop. We’re working very hard,” he said.

“It doesn’t actually have an effect on the United States unless it received out of control…issues like this end up in third-world wars,” the president said.

“ And I told them the other day, I said ‘you know, everybody keeps playing games like this, you’ll end up in a third world war,’ and we don’t want to see that happen,” he added.

This isn’t the first time that Trump claimed the Russia–Ukraine war could unfold into WW3. During questioning in March about the Trump administration’s decision to suspend military assistance to Ukraine, Trump touted the concerning talking point.

“I watched over the last week or so, what’s going on in Europe, this thing could end up in World War 3 if we don’t get it settled,” he said during the March press convention in the Oval Office.

Trump’s statements on Thursday come just hours after he continued to strain Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to settle for a peace plan that cedes territory, arguing that the nation is “losing a lot of people” and “82 percent want a settlement.”

“He has to be realistic, and I do wonder about how long it gonna be until they have an election,” Trump said of Zelensky at a White House spherical desk yesterday. “They haven’t had an election in a long time… It’s losing a lot of people.”

“There was a poll that came out 82% of the [Ukrainian] people are demanding a settlement be made,” he claimed. Trump also levelled accusations of “massive corruption” against Ukraine.

Trump didn’t add his source for the stat, but latest polls show that while most Ukrainians do need a peace plan, many are against ceding territory to Russia. In Gallup’s most latest ballot of Ukrainians, performed in early July, 69 % favor a negotiated end to the warfare as soon as attainable, in contrast with 24 % who help persevering with to combat until victory is achieved.
