U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House are “struggling” in the aftermath of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s homicide, according to reviews.
Trump—who was subject to a contemporary spherical of health issues after showing with a drooping facial features at a 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon, a day after Kirk’s homicide—and many of his employees had been “very close” to Kirk, a longtime Trump supporter, explains New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck in entrance of a large crowd of some 3,000 people at an event his group, Turning Point USA, was internet hosting at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He leaves behind a spouse and two children.
A suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah, was arrested after his Trump-supporting father turned him in to authorities following a 33-hour-long nationwide manhunt for the killer. He is being held without bail at a Utah jail on a number of costs.
“So many people around President Trump are very close to Charlie Kirk. President Trump was very close to Charlie Kirk. And President Trump faced two assassination attempts, one near miss last year,” Haberman said during a Friday look on GWN’s “The Source.”
Trump has referred to Kirk as a “martyr” in the wake of his death, while billing him as a “giant of his generation.”
“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” the president wrote in a post on the social platform X.
“He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
