Trump waits for response from disfigured supreme | Political News
According to White House officers, President Trump is ready for a proposal from Iran’s new supreme chief, Mojtaba Khamenei, who hasn’t been seen since the new tital.
Trump has claimed that the latest Khamenei is “disfigured” and hiding after a U.S. bombing.
Per a White House official, Vice President JD Vance’s journey to Pakistan won’t be taking place today. Any additional updates on in-person conferences can be announced by the White House.
“Trump’s ceasefire extension means nothing. The losing side cannot dictate terms. The continuation of the siege is no different from bombardment and must be met with a military response. Moreover, Trump’s ceasefire extension is certainly a ploy to buy time for a surprise strike. The time for Iran to take the initiative has come,” said Mahdi Mohammadi, adviser to Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
It comes after Trump revealed an extension of the ceasefire with Iran following Pakistan’s appeal, as he awaits a “unified” proposal from the Islamic Republic, citing Iran’s “fractured” authorities as a issue.
“STATEMENT OF PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP: Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” the president wrote.
Trump continued, “I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
The announcement got here despite the White House suspending Vice President JD Vance’s anticipated go to to Islamabad for additional negotiations, as Tehran has quickly resisted further dialogue.
Trump’s shift in place follows his dismissal of a ceasefire extension earlier Tuesday morning. The president had addressed the matter during a live phone-in interview on CNBC shortly after 8 a.m. When questioned about extending the ceasefire contingent on development in upcoming Iran negotiations, Trump responded, “Well, I don’t want to do that. We don’t have that much time.” He emphasised that Iran “had a choice” and “they have to negotiate.”
