Trump warns rivals are secretly testing nuclear | Political News
President Donald Trump said rival international locations are secretly testing nuclear weapons, but they “don’t talk about it” during an interview with CBS’s Norah O’Donnell.
Trump said the explanation why he has instructed the Department of War to start testing U.S. nuclear weapons is because “Russia announced that they have been gonna be doing a check.”
“If you notice, North Korea’s testing constantly. Other countries are testing. We’re the only country that doesn’t test, and I wanna be– I don’t wanna be the only country that doesn’t test”, Trump said.
“Russia‘s testing, and China’s testing, but they don’t talk about it. No, we’re gonna test, because they test and others test. And certainly, North Korea has been testing. Pakistan’s been testing.”
Last week, President Donald Trump advised that the U.S. would restart its testing of nuclear weapons before he met with China’s Xi Jinping.
“I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account and noted other countries testing weapons.
Trump said the U.S. has more nuclear weapons than any other country, with Russia second and China a “distant third.”
However, estimates by several organizations, such as the Federation of American Scientists and the Arms Control Association, suggest that Russia currently has the most confirmed nuclear weapons. While different organizations have slightly different estimates, all suggest that Russia has more nuclear weapons than the U.S.

The U.S. has not conducted nuclear testing since 1992, and China and Russia are also not known to have held any such tests since the same era.
No country except North Korea has conducted a nuclear test explosion in this century, according to the Arms Control Association (ACA).
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russia had successfully tested its “unique” nuclear-propelled Burevestnik cruise missile, which may carry a nuclear warhead, describing it as a half of efforts to “ensure the country’s national security.” Trump called Putin’s announcement “not appropriate.”
On Wednesday, Putin said Russia had also examined a Poseidon nuclear-powered tremendous torpedo.
