Tucker Carlson, the conservative political commentator, has declared he’s now “out” of the Republican Party, citing that the GOP has “betrayed” its voters. After being a supporter of the celebration for some 35 years, Carlson claimed that it had grow to be “treasonous” but said he wouldn’t be switching his help to the Democrats.
During an episode of the ‘Can’t Be Censored’ podcast on Thursday, Carlson said that the GOP had prioritized the pursuits of company donors and Israel over U.S. residents, particularly when it got here to the Iran conflict. It comes after a CBS News/YouGov ballot launched June 21 confirmed that 57% of contributors consider the conflict in Iran created more issues than it solved.
During the podcast, Carlson said, “And if I’m out, then I believe a lot of other people are out,” including, “I would not support the Republican Party. There’s no chance I would support the Republican Party.”
“How could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States. That puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens. It’s not possible to vote for people like that, and I’m not going to,” he said.
Despite leaving the Republicans, Carlson says he won’t support Democrats either and is still unsure how he’ll vote in future elections, with the midterms just months away.
Another disillusioned Republican, Marjorie Taylor Greene, reacted to the news, saying she felt the same way about the party.
“Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party. There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country,” she wrote on X.
“That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either. But we are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.”
After being a staunch supporter of Trump, even echoing the declare that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” by Democrats, Greene fell out of favor with the administration when she stood alongside Democrats and backed a House vote to forcibly release all the recordsdata on the deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Like Carlson, Greene also spoke out against the resolution to go to conflict with Iran, writing on X, “The American people aren’t motivated by foreign wars or bailouts for other countries. They want leaders who show up, do the job, and fight for them every single day!”
