The heavy metallic band Twisted Sister was a huge deal in the Nineteen Eighties, but it is only now that fans are discovering the which means behind the band’s name, with fans of Dire Straits also not too long ago learning the which means of the band’s name.

In 1972, the heavy metallic rock group now identified as Twisted Sister was established in New Jersey. The band, which included lead vocalist Dee Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda, bassist Mark “The Animal” Mendoza, and drummer A. J. Pero, made a splash on the music scene under the name Silver Star.

By the early Nineteen Eighties, that they had carved out a area of interest for themselves with chart-topping hits like We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock. During their prime, band members have been typically seen sporting make-up and sporting extravagant stage outfits.

Snider revealed on Late Night with David Letterman in 1985 that the band’s name was impressed by their look. However, he also talked about that a mutual pal of the band gave them the nickname.

“It was a name given to us by an alcoholic,” he candidly instructed the late-night host. “His name is Michael. I don’t want to give his last name because I think he’s in a coma,” he continued.

“Anyway, he called up Jay Jay at four o’clock in the morning with this helpful name.”

And just like that, with the help of a drunken Michael, Twisted Sister was born.

Sadly, after having fun with a number of years of success, Twisted Sister disbanded in 1988. They ended their spectacular run in the industry with a farewell tour in 2016 following the death of drummer A.

While the band has reunited intermittently since their initial breakup, their final energetic stint was in 2016. They did, however, reunite once more on January 26, 2023, for their induction into the Metal Hall of Fame, where they delivered a particular three-song efficiency.

Following this, Snider revealed that there have been no plans for an official reunion and that that they had no intention of performing any further exhibits.

Snider then embarked on a solo profession, releasing a number of solo albums and embarking on tours. He also participated in different bands post-Twisted Sister.

Moreover, different Twisted Sister members have engaged in numerous initiatives, including becoming a member of different bands, manufacturing, and management.

Regrettably, not all members survived to carve out a name for themselves exterior of the band. AJ Pero, the band’s drummer, handed away from a suspected coronary heart assault in his sleep, as per Snider.

The veteran drummer died at the age of 55 on March 20, 2015.
