Two-time heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has been told to remain retired for his own good and that of his household.

Fury shocked the world back in January after sharing a retirement announcement by way of social media: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,” he declared. “I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side. Get up!”

After experiencing a second loss to Oleksandr Usyk, many had hoped to see Fury and Anthony Joshua go head-to-head within the ring. ‘AJ” is facing his own turning point after a shattering knockout defeat by Daniel Dubois last September.

Despite Fury’s announcement, some remain sceptical given his track record; after announcing retirement in April 2022 post his victory over Dillian Whyte, he was back in action before the year’s end facing off against Derek Chisora. Promoter Bob Arum, however, believes this time Fury should bow out for good.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Arum mentioned: “I feel Tyson Fury owes it to himself and his household to stay fortunately retired.” He continued, emphasising life beyond the ring: “Not from life, as a result of I consider he has a lot in entrance of him. He is a good communicator and is an entertainer, however I do not assume he should step within the ring again as a result of I feel he’s had enough.”

Arum added: “Fortunately, in the previous couple of years of his profession he earned a lot money his household or himself isn’t going to need for money. I might advise him to not ever go back within the ring, however to make himself helpful as a spokesperson as a result of he can talk terribly nicely. People are intrigued by him and I feel he can do a lot of good.”

Regarding a potential showdown with Joshua, Arum believes the all-British fight is not enough to lure Fury out of retirement. “As you understand, I’m not a Brit, so I’m not as fascinated by an Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury struggle as a Brit could also be,” he said.

“So it would not transfer me that he’s strolling away from boxing and strolling away from that struggle. Tyson is a very outward type of particular person. He communicates nicely and reaches out and expresses what he thinks. But that being mentioned, I actually do not know what deep down he’s going to do as a result of I do not assume he actually does.”
