Democrat Rep. Delia Ramirez (IL) sparked controversy after reportedly declaring at the second annual Panamerican Congress held in Mexico that she is a proud Guatemalan before she is an American.
Ramirez, whose husband is a DACA recipient and defines her marriage as “mixed-status” on a marketing campaign web site, apparently made the controversial remarks this previous weekend at what the Daily Caller has described as a “radical” summit organized by the director of an “anti-American organization.”
“I’m a proud Guatemalan before I’m an American,” she instructed the group while talking in Spanish, according to the outlet’s translation.
The Daily Caller informs us that they “confirmed the translation of her statement with multiple Spanish speakers.”
In addition to those controversial remarks, it’s reported that Ramirez denigrated the United States for being “addicted to war” and accused the country in which she works as a public servant of using “imperialism, militarization, conquest, control, competition in its attempt at domination.”

The White House fired back in response to the Democrat congresswoman’s alleged feedback, as effectively as the looks of different high-profile Squad members, Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), calling them “despicable.”

Ramirez, whose own marketing campaign web site states that her mom “crossed the border while pregnant” with her, and which CNN has reported the trek involving crossing the Rio Grande, was half of a contingent of Democrats demanding more radical motion in protesting the deportation of illegals.
“I think we should be doubling down, and I think what you’re hearing from our members is we need to be spending next week doing these visits,” she stated, according to Axios.
“I’m prepared to go to the detention centers in Indiana,” added Ramirez. “If they’re going to arrest me, then so be it.”
