If you grew up watching ’90s tv, likelihood is the Peterson household felt a little like your own prolonged household, only with better one-liners. The Parent ‘Hood debuted on The WB in January 1995 and shortly grew to become one of the community’s signature household sitcoms. The collection adopted Robert and Jerri Peterson as they tried to raise 4 kids in their Manhattan brownstone while juggling work, college, relationships and all the chaos that comes with parenting. The show ran for 5 seasons and 90 episodes before saying goodbye in 1999.
So where is the forged of The Parent ‘Hood today and the memorable neighbors who kept the household interesting? As it turns out, the cast took some very different paths after leaving the Peterson brownstone. Let’s discover out together.
Robert Townsend — Robert Peterson
Of course, there was Robert Peterson, the well-meaning but sometimes hilariously exasperated dad performed by Robert Townsend.
Townsend was a lot more than the star of the show. He was also a co-creator, filmmaker, author and producer, and his profession behind the digicam has remained just as busy as his profession in entrance of it.
The man behind Hollywood Shuffle and The Five Heartbeats has continued directing and appearing effectively into the 2020s. More lately, Townsend appeared as Emmanuel Adamu on FX’s The Bear and has directed episodes of The Chi, according to his web site. He also directed a number of episodes of Poppa’s House in 2024 and 2025, as effectively as episodes of Power Book IV: Force.
So, while Robert Peterson might have spent his sitcom years attempting to keep his children in line, Townsend has spent the a long time since serving to form tales from behind the digicam.
Not a dangerous second act.
