Wheel of Fortune viewers confused over | TV Shows
Wheel of Fortune viewers were once again left fuming and confused after a ruling that saw someone miss out on a win over a slight mispronunciation of a common word.
The show often sees heartwarming wins and embarrassing losses, all of which get fans of the primetime game show series talking, almost as much as they chat over the attire of longtime co-host Vanna White.
However, most often, fans are left scratching their heads over what seems like rule changes that aren’t consistent on the show.
One of the things that gets fans most confused is the rulings on words that are mispronounced.
The latest issue arrived during a recent episode, and involved host Ryan Seacrest making the ruling that infuriated fans.
The first puzzle of the episode saw a player miss out on a $1,000 prize after incorrectly pronouncing her guess.
The puzzle read: AF_I_ _N _A_A_ _, and Arzice, a player from Ohio, correctly guessed “African Safari,” but mispronounced the second word as “sa-fair-ee,” which led to the answer then being deemed incorrect, giving the win to the next player, Brian.
“Safari is the way you have to say that,” Seacrest ultimately said. “Just wanted to check with our judges to make sure.”
On social media, fans were left unimpressed by the ruling.

“C’mon, Wheel of Fortune judges. I knew what she meant when she said African ‘Safari’ that way,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Wheel of fortune you suck! The woman said African Safari and was correct but used a southern twang! That was rotten!” another said.
However, another defended the decision, pointing out if it had been ruled in her favor, it would have led to other complaints.
“(African Safairee) isn’t a word in Dictionary or Wikipedia,” one person said. “If the contestant was allowed to win $1,000 that would cheat the other contestants!”
At the end of the night, neither Brian nor Arzice was the big winner who made it to the bonus round.
Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights on ABC.
